Samsung Spica (i5700). Bought the new Samsung Spica (aka Galaxy Lite) i5700 yesterday. Start up in 'Download' mode by pressing following keys. I put i5700 in download mode. -Install New PC Studio from Samsung CD (USB Driver installer did not. But after Flash Samsung Galaxy i5700 To Firmware 2.1. You can try that but if you have problems like 'your device is now ready to use' but you can't see 'Samsung Android Composite Device' and/or 'Samsung Android USB modem' in the device manager you can search for the leaked NPS 1.5 and it will install the necessary driver for the spica. Make sure you phone is not connected to the computer while installing. Then uncheck the 'Mass storage only' and i think you should check the 'USB debugging' on your phone then connect you phone. NPS should install the necessary drivers and NPS should detect you phone as GT-i5700 and UMS Composite something. Click to expand.Thank you! Been trying to figure out how to transfer stuff to my SD card for days, but nothing seemed to work. Until now It's absolutely amazing that Samsung can't manage to build simple storage device drivers for their devices that don't require the users to jump through hoops like this. Or at least provide clear instructions with the software that explains what needs to be done. I'll most certainly not be buying another of their devices in the future. Despite the fact that I really like the devices themselves. Been trying to figure out how to transfer stuff to my SD card for days, but nothing seemed to work. There is a bug with some of the Spica firmwares (I had it happen a lot with the factory 1.5 that came with mine) where it won't always auto-detect when you plug in your Spica. Usually changing USB options will 'wake it up', which I'm guessing is what's happened in your case. You can also use the keypad code *#7284# from your dialer to force the USB options to 'PDA'. So if you want to blame Samsung, blame them for the bug. You don't need to go through this part if you just want to mount your SD Card as a storage device. It is a known issue with NPS and Head Office are working as hard as possible to get it resolved but there is no estimated fix date yet! I suggest everyone keeps calling them each day until they eventually realise that it is a wanted update and its no good saying its available when it actually isn't, and to encourage them to pull thier fingers out. If you're interested (and you're in the UK) the number is 08456 SAMSUNG (864). For those outside the UK you might be able to Google the number to get a version that works outside the UK or use something like saynoto0870.com. Any one know the technical reasons why NPS is needed to update.
